We've started!
Last night we had our first official Summit meeting. After club we (those that went last year and 2 other girls) discussed our 'plan of atttack' regarding transportation, Summit events, sightseeing, and tons of other things. We split up jobs between the 3 of us who know that we are going to find places to eat, shop, sight-see, etc. We have also started working on t-shirt designs-who knows what they'll look like as of last night!!! Haha. So far it looks like we will have 3-5 girls going to quiz, and we will all be doing some sort of fine arts as well. The games team I was on last year also just e-mailed us today. It looks like they will need more girls again. Hopefully it will work out. They were such a fun group, just like many other groups from Summit!!!!! There is a lot more excitement this year, now that there's more than just me talking about Summit!

Heather! I'm so excited for y'all, the planning stages of Summit are so much fun! Is it just girls going? No guys? Wow. So is your club small as well, or is there just not much interest in Summit?
I totally agree. Everytime somthing new come on the website, or we receive something in the mail (since my mom is the contact person) I always am excited!
Well, we actually have grown alot since last year, we now have 25 highschool consistantly (the Jr. High now has 22). Faith Baptist has had Awana for many years, but not the jr. high and high school programs. If anyone wanted to get their Citation, they did it on their own. My grandparents started the Jr. High about 8 years ago, and the high school has just been since I was a freshman. There was around 10 of us who wanted to keep going, so with the help of a few parents we now have a highschool group. The church doesn't really help out with it, cuz they don't want it to interfere with the youth group, so we're basically self-supporting.
As far as interest in Summit, we'd heard about it, but didn't have final details until 3 months before Summit started in Chicago. All the sites were only about 40 minutes or less from my house, so I went for opening and closing ceremonies, most of friday (playing my piano solo, listening and watching others play and performing, and watched volleyball/bb). So, it was only me telling everyone about it (and my word doesn't always go too far because everyone thinks I'm an Awana Freak (which is true, but not in the way that they say it). I was SO glad Katie & Lauren came last year cuz that would be 2 more people who had been there. We do have 3 girls for sure going, and one other might go if she doesn't go on her school band trip. One of my good friends, who also admits that she is an Awana Nut, would love to go, but her dad says it costs too much. The guys in our group-well there is usually only 5 or six of them, and most are involved with school plays or sports. One almost came last year. So that's my story...I guess it's more than a 'comment'. It's more like an essay! Hope to talk to you soon, I have to get to church to hangout with all my Sparks friends!
